About

An independent publisher, built for research that needs to be verifiable.

NextGenIQ Press publishes 10 peer-reviewed open-access journals, two book series and two proceedings series across digital, computational and interdisciplinary science. We are new, and we would rather say so plainly than imply a history we do not have.

How we publish

Review that is actually blind

Every research article goes to a minimum of two independent reviewers who do not know who wrote it, and whose identities the authors do not learn. Manuscripts are screened for similarity before they reach a reviewer.

Open by default, not by purchase

Every article is free to read from the moment it is published, under a CC BY 4.0 licence, with copyright retained by the authors. There is no embargo, no subscription tier and no paywalled version of record.

Publication on acceptance

Articles appear online as soon as they are accepted, copy-edited and typeset, and are citable from that date. Nobody waits for an issue to fill.

Methods over perceived impact

Editors are asked whether the methods support the conclusions, not whether the result is exciting. Replications, negative results and methodological papers are in scope everywhere.

Where we are today

All ten journals are open for submissions. Founding editorial board appointments are in progress; until an appointment has been accepted in writing, manuscripts are handled by the editorial office under the oversight of the publisher’s editorial director, and the board page for each journal says so.

ISSN registration is under way. Until a number is assigned, every journal page shows “Applied for” rather than a placeholder — an ISSN is checkable, and a fabricated one fails the check.

Articles receive a Crossref DOI on publication. Applications to indexing services are made when each service’s eligibility criteria are met, which for most of them means a minimum number of published articles or a period of continuous publication. The indexing page lists the real status of each service rather than a wish list.
